Nigeria’s crude oil production dropped to 1.39 million barrels per day in September 2025, its lowest level in seven months and below the OPEC allocation of 1.5 million barrels per day, according to the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The figure, obtained through direct communication with Nigerian authorities, represents a decline from 1.434 mbpd recorded in August.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission attributed the drop to disruptions from a three-day strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria amid its dispute with the Dangote Refinery. The shutdown of several production and export facilities during the strike slowed output and export schedules. NUPRC data showed that total crude and condensate production averaged 1.581 mbpd in September, comprising 1.39 mbpd of crude and 191,373 bpd of condensates.
