Dangote Cement has officially launched a new cement plant in Attingué, about 30 kilometres from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, marking a major expansion of its pan-African operations. According to a statement released on Sunday, the 100 billion CFA franc ($162 million) project spans 50 hectares and boasts an annual production capacity of 3 million tonnes—making it one of the company’s largest plants outside Nigeria.
The facility makes Ivory Coast the 11th African nation to host a Dangote Cement production unit, reinforcing the group’s total continental capacity of 55 million tonnes per year. The company said the plant is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs while supporting local SMEs and infrastructure growth amid rising construction demand. “The Attingué plant is not just an industrial unit; it is a symbol of confidence in the future of Ivory Coast,” said Serge Gbotta, Managing Director of Dangote Cement Ivory Coast.
