The Federal Government has inaugurated the reconstructed 6.7-kilometre Port Harcourt Road in Aba, Abia State, marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure renewal and economic revitalisation drive. President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, described the project’s completion as a “miracle” achieved through collaboration among the Federal Government, the Abia State Government, and Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. He praised Governor Alex Otti for his commitment to rebuilding critical infrastructure and positioning Abia as a model of progress and transparency.
Julius Berger’s Director of Administration, Dr. Abdulaziz Kaita, described the new roadway as a lifeline for commerce, linking markets to manufacturers and easing years of traffic, flooding, and transport disruption. The project, built on resilience and comprehensive drainage design, is expected to reduce travel time, boost logistics efficiency, and spur business growth in Aba. Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s goal of restoring the city’s commercial dominance, thanking President Tinubu for supporting projects that align with the Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda.
