Israel Adesanya has revealed his comeback plans, stating he wants to fight one more time before the end of the end of 2024 or early year 2025, noting he just wants to fight for and not for a belt.
Adesanya who revealed this in an interview, recently suffered a setback when he dropped out of the UFC pound-for-pound rankings for the first time in five years.
His defeat came after a submission loss to South Africa’s Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305, where he failed to reclaim the middleweight title. This loss followed another unexpected defeat against Sean Strickland, costing him the championship belt.
Adesanya’s coach, Eugene Bareman, also hinted at a potential return in 2024, emphasizing that Adesanya has been actively training with other fighters at City Kickboxing.

He noted that Adesanya seems focused on regaining his form rather than immediately challenging for the title. The former UFC middle weight champion expressed interest in observing upcoming fights in the middleweight division, including potential clashes between Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis, as well as Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev.

“I’m just training, building up where we left off. I’ll get the call at some point with a few options. I think Dana will hit me up at some point,” Adesanya said.
As Adesanya contemplates his next move, the middleweight division continues to evolve, with fighters like Islam Makhachev and Alex Pereira now occupying the top spots in the pound-for-pound rankings, and Aljamain Sterling replacing Adesanya in the list. Fans can anticipate an exciting return from ‘The Last Stylebender as he works towards reclaiming his position at the top of the middleweight division.
