The World Boxing Association (WBA) has ordered 19-year-old British-Nigerian sensation Moses Itauma to face Bulgarian veteran Kubrat Pulev for the WBA (Regular) heavyweight title. The decision marks a major career milestone for Itauma, who could become one of the youngest heavyweight champions in boxing history if he wins.
The WBA confirmed the mandatory bout on Tuesday, directing both camps to begin negotiations immediately. Itauma, who turned professional in 2023 after a decorated amateur career, remains unbeaten and has quickly gained attention for his explosive power and composure in the ring. Pulev, 43, brings years of experience, having previously challenged for world titles against Wladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua.
Analysts say the fight represents a classic clash of youth versus experience, with Itauma looking to cement his rise among the heavyweight elite. A victory would make him a household name and a new face for British boxing. The WBA has given both camps 30 days to finalise terms before a possible purse bid is called.
