Here is the full statement:

It is with great honour and privilege that I formally present to you, Souq News Television and The Isle 104.9FM, today Thursday the 30th of January, 2025.

Souq News Television and The Isle 104.9FM are broadcast stations owned by FemyWalsh Limited, and are committed to blazing a new trail in the coverage and reportage of Business, Economy and Development issues in Sub-Saharan Africa and across the global economy.

The idea to start a business broadcast channel was conceived 17 years ago, stemming from the need to fill a void in an industry that is dominated by general interest contents, traffic, sports, entertainment and news about the ills of the country. The focus has been to change the mindset of an average Nigerian about Nigeria; and to feed Nigerians with the right information, most especially business-related information.

It is business that drives the economy, coupled with issues of development. This gave rise to the creation of platforms that would represent the business community and cater exclusively to the media needs of players in various areas of business.

Our broadcast stations – Souq News Television and The Isle 104.9FM, have been established to demystify the norm in the media, by specializing in reporting stories on Business, Economy and Development.

This led to the formation of a team that birthed Souq News Television and The Isle 104.9FM; two broadcast stations that are saddled with the responsibility of transforming the ordinary to the extraordinary by reporting business in the most unique ways.

Just as the name implies, Souq is an Arabic word for market, and all we do on Souq News Television is to report business news. We have been licensed to run a television station with the name “Souq News” at The United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, we decided to take-off from Nigeria, maintaining the same name before floating the UAE office.

Since our establishment two years, I can categorically say that the journey has been both interesting and captivating; and we are set and super ready to unleash what we have to the teeming business community.

Let me use this opportunity to commend media executives, who have at one time or the other, established broadcast outfits before us. Venturing into media business is no child’s play, particularly our kind of specialized media.

Our stations – Souq News Television and The Isle 104.9FM did not come out of the blues; we had a plan and a direction and each step towards achieving our goals came with its own challenge, primarily technical and sourcing for the right human resources to drive the vision.

Our major goal is to be the leading media organization for everything Business, Economy and Development. We aim to be that one stop shop that caters to the needs of the business community both within and outside the shores of Nigeria, through our authoritative coverage and reportage of facts and figures in Business, Finance, Markets, Economy and Development.

We are here for collaboration and cooperation. Media organizations should move from the status quo of being independent of one another. Existing media outfits should not be intimated by the progress of new ones, but work collaboratively as players in the same industry to achieve the primary goals of communication.

Also, media houses should operate an open-door policy which will encourage exchange of talents, to facilitate knowledge sharing and better technical-know-how for the overall growth of the media sector.

As Souq News Television and The Isle 104.9FM are being launched today, my message to everyone is to keep the faith. Let us change the ordinary to the extra-ordinary and win. Let us succeed together. Let us stay focused and avoid distractions for us to achieve what is ahead.

We will continue to project the good image of Nigeria and give unbiased business, economy and development reports, promising to keep you always informed anytime you watch Souq News Television or listen to The Isle 104.9FM, Lagos, Nigeria.

Thank you and God bless Nigeria.
