The Federal Government of Nigeria has disbursed n32.9 billion to primary healthcare facilities across all wards through the basic health care provision fund, marking the third release of funds in 2025.
Coordinating minister of health and social welfare, professor Muhammed Ali Pate, confirmed that the funds have been deposited directly into health centre accounts to improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
The initiative aims to strengthen access to essential healthcare by enabling local facilities to manage resources transparently in partnership with community groups.
Professor Pate emphasized that the move reflects the government’s renewed commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s primary health systems, urging citizens, traditional leaders, and ward committees to monitor fund utilization for accountability and impact.
Established under the national health act of 2014, the basic health care provision fund financed by one percent of the consolidated revenue fund and donor contributions serves as a critical lifeline for the poor and vulnerable, supporting essential medical services, supplies, and emergency treatments nationwide.
