The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that the application portal for the 2024/2025 academic session will officially close on Tuesday. The agency said the closure is necessary to allow for the processing of pending applications and the continuation of upkeep payments to existing beneficiaries.
In an update posted on its official X account, NELFUND also outlined the timelines for the 2025/2026 academic cycle. According to the statement, the loan portal will reopen in the second week of October 2025 for fresh applications and remain accessible until January 2026. The agency stressed that the window was designed to give students adequate time to apply and institutions ample opportunity to verify submissions.
Reaffirming its mandate, NELFUND said it remains committed to removing financial barriers to higher education through the provision of interest-free student loans. It added that it will continue to work closely with institutions nationwide to ensure that all eligible students are reached and that no applicant is left behind.
