The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased petrol prices to N925 per litre in Lagos and N950 per litre in Abuja, effective April 2, 2025.
This marks a rise of N65 from the previous N860 per litre in Lagos and N70 from the N880 per litre in the North.
The price hike follows Dangote Refinery’s recent suspension of naira payments for petroleum products, impacting market competition and supply costs.
Independent marketers had earlier raised petrol prices to N930 in Lagos and N960 in the North.

The adjustment coincides with leadership changes at NNPCL, with President Bola Tinubu appointing Bayo Ojulari as the new Group Chief Executive Officer, replacing Mele Kyari.

NNPCL stations in key locations, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ikorodu Road, and Kubwa Expressway in Abuja, have adjusted their prices accordingly. The increase reflects global oil price trends, currency fluctuations, and crude sourcing costs.
Despite recent reductions in March 2025 to match Dangote’s lower prices, the rising cost of fuel imports has led to this latest adjustment.
