On national security, Tinubu commended the efforts of security agencies, noting significant improvements in areas previously plagued by instability. “Today, you can travel these roads, which were once impossible,” he stated, expressing optimism about continued progress.
The President defended his decision to remove the fuel subsidy and harmonize foreign exchange rates, emphasizing that these measures were essential for economic stability. He described the subsidy as unsustainable, stating, “We were spending our future. We were not investing; we were just deceiving ourselves.”

Tinubu also announced his administration’s commitment to implementing comprehensive tax reforms. These changes, he said, aim to modernize Nigeria’s economy and align it with global standards. “We cannot continue to do what we were doing yesterday in today’s economy,” he remarked.
Acknowledging the temporary hardships caused by these policies, Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and patient. “The reforms come with temporary hardships, but conviction about their long-term positive impacts is key. The new dawn is here,” he affirmed.
The President concluded by reiterating his government’s dedication to building a stronger, more resilient economy while ensuring a secure and inclusive environment for all Nigerians.
